Every first Saturday in May my entire family heads out on a quest : FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!! Waiting in line, wearing our favorite hero garb, we make it an annual tradition to get our geek on. Take this opportunity to promote literacy and support local shops. See where some movies and television series get their origins this Free Comic Book Day with issues of Grimm and Walking Dead. Something for everyone, with kiddie titles like Sesame Street and fan boy favorites like Star Wars.
Make sure to grab Superman Special Edition. This year is Superman's 75th Birthday and Man of Steel is due to be this Summer's blockbuster. Infinity is sure to be a coveted issue as Marvel has announced their next team-up epic will be the adaptation of Jim Starlin's The Infinity Gauntlet.
My crew tends to hit up a plethora of shops every FCBD since each celebrates this nerd holiday in their own way. Some stores offer up to 6 free titles, some offer great discounts, and some do it up really big with costume contests, radio station coverage, prizes, and more.
