Cure for Count Choculitus

General Mills Monster Cereals hit stores as early as August, but when Count Chocula disappears from shelves it is a sure sign Halloween is here! Always the first to be out of stock, this chocolaty marshmallow cereal is the top favorite of the monster mix. With the re-introduction of Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy this year, there are even more ways to mix up this recipe.

Monster Marshmallow Treats
 Ingredients:
½ stick of butter
1 bag of mini marshmallows
1 box General Mills Monster Cereal
Directions:
Melt butter on low. Once melted add marshmallows and stir over medium heat until smooth. Don't try to crank the heat to hurry it up, it will burn it up!!!  Add cereal and get mixing! Making sure the mixture is evenly distributed (holding everything together), turn of heat and pour into a brownie pan. Add sprinkles, candies, etc while treats are still sticky. Cover for a few hours to firm then cut into squares.

Quick & Cozy Pumpkin Oatmeal

The mornings are getting chillier with the seemingly sudden arrival of the season. Autumn however, no matter the weather, remains to be a warm and cozy time of year. Sweaters in deep jewel tones are hitting stores, green leaves are turning luminous gold hues, and we find ourselves digging out soft flannel bed sheets to curl up in during the crisp Fall nights. These creature comforts just add to the star of the season: PUMPKIN!!! Practically everything on the menu, from coffee, to baked goods, to beer, has a seasonal squash edition.

One comfort food my boys love is instant oatmeal. A healthy and quick breakfast, a bowl of oatmeal is a warm invitation to the dining table when it is even harder to get out of bed on a chilly day. Just a few dashes of Pumpkin Pie Spice added to the usual oatmeal regimen (I make mine with 1% milk in the microwave) and a garnish of candy corn makes a super simple October treat. And unlike multiple visits to Starbucks for limited edition edibles, this dish won't break the bank at just 38¢ a serving!!!

TUNESDAY: Katy Perry-Roar (LHS Edition)

In an effort to raise funds for Colorado flood victims, Lakewood High School students made this lip dub version of Katy Perry's newest single; Roar. The Tigers, more than 2,000 of them, stomped the LHS campus truly showing their stripes. No class time was used in the one shot production. Students volunteered their time and energy to speak up for a community, a state, in need. In hopes of winning a private concert with Perry, the students would like to sell tickets to the event, moving it to a bigger venue, with proceeds going to Colorado flood relief. Perry has seen the video, loved it, and even gave a shout out to LHS-
"Oh my GAWD. Now this is what I call school SPIRIT! I hear you roaring LAKEWOOD HIGH!" @katyperry

Good Luck Lakewood High School! Colorado is keeping their fingers crossed!!!
