Seize the Grill

Living in Colorado, you have to learn to adapt to the ever changing weather. As part of adapting to the conditions outside, I've learned to also take every opportunity to soak up some sun during the uncertainty of a Colorado spring. With one day sunny and the next a blizzard, my weekly planner is based on whatever the meteoroligist forcasts. So, with a window of sunshine, it was time to seize the grill!

Call it a belated Spring Break, but this no fuss family dinner in the evening sun was like a mini vacation! Steak doesn't have to be a luxury cost when you shop grocery Sunday ads. (Find a real deal & stock up in the deep freeze for up to 1 year.)Paired with some grilled veggies(with olive oil&sea salt) and a side salad, you have a simple dinner off the grill with little prep and less than half the steak house price. I hope to be grilling home grown veggies later this summer, if I could just get the produce section going in the garden...  Stay tuned!

Full Moon of Spring

Take a moment this evening, assuming you have clear skies, and check out the full Moon. A full moon in the month of April is known as a Pink Moon, named after the color of early spring ground cover. This evening will also have a partial lunar eclipse only visible from the Eastern Hemisphere. Farmer's Almanac says this period through the last quarter of the Moon is the best time for killing weeds, thinning, pruning, mowing, cutting timber, and planting below-ground crops. Sounds like good news for green thumbs, if Jack Frost would just get out of town!

Rise up this morning, Smile at the rising sun

Last year I found B is for Bob, a children's album from Tuff Gong. I would recommend this CD to all those who have little ones running around the house. This is a great way to introduce them to worldly music and poetry. All the songs are bright and sunny, even classics like Redemption Song and Jamming have been given a light hearted upgrade for little listeners. If you are a Marley fan, this is a great addition to the catalog with some deeper cuts like Small Axe and High Tide or Low Tide. I like to play B is for Bob while the kiddos eat their breakfast, but it is also a great summertime soundtrack. Going to a child's birthday party? Baby shower? Looking for something for the kids to listen to in the car that doesn't have a cartoon voice singing? You can find it here- http://www.amazon.com/Is-Bob-Eco-Marley-Wailers/dp/B001QAZARG

Earth Day Inspires Growth

While Spring is definitely in full swing, the weather here in Colorado is anything but sunshine and bumblebees. After spending the first weeks of the season doing some much needed indoor Spring cleaning, I have cabin fever. To keep my madness at bay, I have been dreaming up my gardening plans. Lots of inspiration to be found on Pinterest, here are just a few ideas I'd like to try and tackle.

Times a-ticking

Hello Everyone! I just wanted to share my favorite song for a proper blog launch. Why is it the greatest song of all time in my book? Well for starters it is bitter sweet, just like life. Time sure passes by quickly, sometimes faster it seems than the day before. The great and powerful Pink Floyd capture the essence of sands slipping through the hour glass with their song, Time. We all get one go at this journey, I want mine to be full of music, art, and comedy. I want to take a billion photos and craft like a crazy woman. I want to buy shoes and go dancing in them. I want to bake my cake and eat it too. I WANT TO HAVE THE TIME OF MY LIFE!!! There is no time to waste, so I try to make the most of it. I hope that this blog will encourage you to make the most of it as well. Enjoy the lighter side of life when you find darkness. Embrace the beauty of the world we live in. Be silly, weird, and unique.  Dare to have fun, go on an adventure! *LOVE*LAUGH*GLOW*
